Product Description
Lesson 1: Basics - A Simple Latch Circuit
In this lesson we will cover step by step writing of the program, downloading to the CPU, editing your program and downloading again. We will write one small program.
Lesson 2: Software Tips
In this lesson we will cover some of the key features of RSLogix 500.
This will make your life easier and save you some time in the end, Instruction help, Program tree, Custom Data Monitor (CMD), program status, Split Screen and more.
Lesson 3: PLC Scan Cycle
In this lesson we will cover the scan of the PLC and the way the CPU looks at the logic and determines what to do with the logic you have created, if you understand this then programming and troubleshooting automated equipment will be much easier.
Lesson 4: An Event Recorder Program
Lesson 4 is a program where we are going to RECORD a series of inputs and PLAYBACK the data as outputs. We are going to use the MOVE, TABLE, COUNTER and BIT instructions to record up to 20 values that will determine which outputs will be energized. We are going to record 20 inputs and play them back in the order of first one in, first one out. We will be covering Jump to SubRoutine (JSR), First in First out Load (FFL) First in First out Unload (FFU), And others that we will cover more on other lessons but used them also in
Lesson 5: Peak HMI
In this lesson we will interface your PLC (you must have one) with your PC and run Peak HMI demo version. It will run for 2 hours in configuration and 20 minutes in runtime, then the program needs to be restarted, just click double click on the icon again. This is a great way to get comfortable with an HMI (Human Machine Interface or MMI Man Machine Interface) as more and more machines are using them to control some or all of the interaction of the human side of the machine.
Lesson 6: Tracking Parts on a Conveyor Line
Timers, Moves, Shift, Increment and Comparison Instructions
In this lesson, we will cover some advanced instructions to simulate tracking boxes on a conveyor, a common task. We will be manipulating data and using a number of internal relays to add switches to control several different functions that we would normally have to have extra hardware for, but with a PLC we simply just add more Networks of code to accomplish the same thing.
Lesson 7: Grinding Machine Program
This lesson is a simple programming exercise ... the operating sequence of a small grinding machine is to be automatically controlled by a PLC. This is a very in depth lesson.
Lesson 8: Vacuum Pump Sequencing Program
This is a pump sequencing program, many times you will have several pumps on the same system for backups, faster draw downs and other reasons. So in this lesson we will cover Timer On Retentive (TONR), Move Word (MOVW), Greater than or Equal to Integer (>=I), Add Integer (ADD_I), Pointers and many others.
9) Analog lesson 1: Introduction to analog, scaling and data files
10) Analog Lesson 2: Scaling, data moves and storage, inverting and limits while controlling outputs
Also you will find some methods of troubleshooting, some of the things that we want to teach are ways you can troubleshoot and commission your equipment, PLCs are tools intended to help you, make you look better, make your job easier and more efficient. All of our lessons are not anything you will find in the manuals and these are not like any other programming lessons, these mimic real machines that you will come across in real life and you will learn how to program and troubleshoot the real thing
